Gerald E. Evans

Gerald E. Evans, 80, Rapid City, died at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Monday, August 29, 2005. He was born June 1, 1925, at Garden City, MN, to Griffith J. and Gena (Torgerson) Evans. He graduated from Garden City High School and served in the Army Air Corps from 1944 until 1946. Gerald attended Mankato State University and Mankato Commercial College at Mankato, Minnesota. He married Vivian Mayer at Roscoe, S.D., on July 9, 1949. They had one son, Richard Evans. The family lived in Mankato, MN, where Gerald was a Purchasing Agent for Midtex, Inc., formerly Automatic Electric Mfg. Co. The family later moved to Rapid City and Gerald was employed by Control Data Corp, until retirement on August 31, 1987. He was also active in Real Estate sales in Rapid City from 1975 until retirement in 1991. His wife Vivian died on July 12, 1988. He married Kathleen M. Lockhart on May 26, 1990. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge # 1187 and the Shrine of Democracy Chorus. He served on the Supervisory Committee of Black Hills Federal Credit Union. Gerald enjoyed playing golf, fishing and all spectator sports. Survivors include his wife Kathleen Evans, Rapid City, a son Richard A. Evans and his wife Lisa, Rapid City, a sister, Elizabeth Valley, Little Falls, MN, four stepsons, Jim and Peggy Lockhart, St. Louis, MO, Rob and Anita Lockhart, Hyrum, Utah, Dave Lockhart, Pembroke Pines, Florida, and Steven and Brenda Lockhart, Little Rock, Arkansas, and step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Luke, Kristina, R.J., Jessica, David and Shelby and a great-granddaughter, Agie Marie. He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian, his parents and a brother.
