Charles "Chuck" Knowlton

January 19, 1932 - September 7, 2023

Charles Allen "Chuck" Knowlton, 91, was born January 19, 1932 in Torrington, WY to Kendall and June Knowlton. He joined older brother Gilbert and later they were joined by their brother Marvin. He died September 7, 2023 at Avantara Arrowhead in Rapid City.

He attended Veteran grade school and later Torrington High School where he played in the band and played basketball. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1950. That same year, he entered pre-veterinarian school at the University of Wyoming. In 1952 entered the Navy and served until 1957. Charles then enrolled in pharmacy school from 1957 to 1960 when he graduated with a pharmacy degree. He worked at many pharmacies from 1960 to 1969. He took a short break from that to work for Abbott Lab as a salesman in Rapid City and Pueblo, CO for 12 years. Chuck then moved back to Rapid City to practice as a pharmacist until 2013 when he retired.

He married Jane Heckman during leave from the Navy on March 17, 1953. In 1959, they had a daughter, Karen followed by their son, Roger who was born in 1962. Charles and Jane spent 45 wonderful years together until Jane's passing in August of 1998. Charles later married Lynnell Parrott on October 1, 1999. He gained stepdaughters Lori and Linda and stepson, David along with four step-grandchildren. The two later divorced in 2022.

Chuck is survived by daughter Karen and her husband Greg of Piedmont, SD, son Roger and his girlfriend Susan, grandchildren Shawn Mendenhall, Sarah Thompson and Kari Knowlton, great-grandchildren, Abby Thompson, Ethan Thompson and Taylor Thompson, Taijeron Mendenhall, Lucius Mendenhall and Jannali Mendenhall along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his his wife Jane, parents, Kendall and June, two brothers, Gilbert and Marv, his wife Jane, nephew James and niece Jody.
