Ed L. Sewell

Ed L Sewell, 66, Rapid City, died Sunday, July 19, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born April 11, 1926, at Huron to Edwin L and Pearl (Geier) Sewell. He attended St. Thomas College, St. Paul, Minn., in conjunction with the U.S. Navy's V-12 Program, transferring to and graduating from Northwestern University, Evanston, III., in 1948 with a B.S. degree and double major in marketing and advertising.
He owned and operated the Sewell and Tobin Furniture Store at Rapid City with his father and brother, David.
He married Kara Lynne Ost at Huron in 1968.
He was a member of the Elks Club and past president of the Shrine of Democracy Barbershop Chorus.
He was a past member of the Military Affairs Committee and the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce.
He was a current member and past president of the Rapid City Rotary Club, the Storybook Island Board, and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Being involved with Storybook Island and actively enjoying music were important aspects of Ed's life.
Survivors include his wife, Kara Sewell, Rapid City; two sons, Edwin L. Sewell III, Spearfish, and Scott S. Sewell, Rapid City; one daughter, Kara S. Sewell, Sioux Falls; and one granddaughter, Anne Sewell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home at Rapid City.
