Dorin L. "Dick" Wade, 84, passed away at Westhills Village Healthcare on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Alta (Rogers) Wade of Rapid City; son Brad (Barbara) Wade, Boone, Iowa; daughter, Carla (Mark) Brown, Littleton, Colorado; daughter, Susan (David) Conrod, Falls Church, Virginia and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary E. Jones. Dick was born August 10, 1929, to Victor and Ruby (Way) Wade in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. After graduation from Springs High School, he went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and spent 36 years on various assignments in various locations. Retiring in 1983 he was hired by Pennington County to establish and organize the Buildings and Grounds Department for Pennington County Property. In 1985 he returned to his favorite occupation "Communication Design Engineering" and contracted with various telephone companies in South Dakota and surrounding states. During the early 1990's he joined Osheim (Catron) Schmidt Funeral Home as a part-time employee as he continued his engineering duties. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, is a past member of the Telephone Pioneers, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, Barbership Quartet Society of America and First Congregational Church.
